  I have had a wonderful stay at Stronghold over the past couple of weeks. The staff are incredibly friendly and inviting. Stronghold definitely has a rustic vibe, but it compliments well with the era in which it was built. I couldn't have asked for a better temporary living situation!

  We reserved the castle and the carriage house during a holiday weekend for our church retreat. In short, we were very disappointed in both the facilities and the treatment that we received. For starters, the buildings were passed over to us in a filthy condition; it felt like nobody had properly cleaned it in years. Next, both the buildings had major water problems. There was mold growing in some areas which created a musky smell that festered throughout the building. We had some families that left the retreat because their room was so disgusting. Additionally, the showers and sinks lacked adequate water pressure and there was a 50/50 chance that you would not get hot water. Also, some of our members woke up with large welts on their faces and bodies due to the bed bugs in their mattresses. Also, we received unfair treatment at the retreat center. We got the vibe that the retreat center just wanted to make money off of us. Danny, the head guy, told us he was going to do a couple things to help us out, but ultimately failed to follow through. Lastly, the food was very basic. It felt like Stronghold went with the cheapest possible meal. Overall, we were very disappointed with our experience at Stronghold. We will not be going back.
